Thierry, the father of Chelsea’s forward, Eden Hazard, has spoken up on controversies sorrounding his son’s future at Chelsea.
Thierry said that his son may never join Real Madrid.
The Chelsea ace has continuously been linked with a move to the Spanish capital for the last three seasons.
Talk of the Belgium international swapping Chelsea for Santiago Bernabeu intensified in July when Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid in a £105 million deal to Juventus.
“I can’t say why it did not go through. Not because I don’t want to, because I don’t know,” Thierry told Hiet Nieuwsblad.
“Maybe they have a policy where they want to give the youth a chance.
“Eden will have one more year on his contract next summer, but he may never end up in Madrid.”
Thierry said his son could very well have joined Real Madrid this season if former manager Zinedine Zidane was still at the helm.
He added, “It could be that it had been a different story with Zidane.
“But on the other hand, he will also have had his reasons for leaving.”
